Review: Nikwax Cleaning Products
I was recently introduced to Nikwax's family of green cleaning products. As I learned more about their products, it really motivated me to want to try them out on my backpack that I carry the baby in when we go hiking, as well as, my my husband's camping gear!
First, we tried the Tech Wash by hand washing our baby backpack. Below are just a few places that we visited with the baby backpack. I wish that we could have thrown the backpack in the washer, but the assembly makes that difficult, so we washed it by hand in the bath tub. After we washed it, I wondered why we never cleaned this sooner! I guess that sometimes you buy something and don't think to clean it that often, but if this were a hand-me-down, I would have wondered right away about which products to use to clean it.
We also used the Tech Wash on one of my husband's jackets, followed by the TX Direct. I had hoped to do Before-And-After photos, but I guess that I had different lighting in the photos so I felt that I wasn't really showing the difference very well and figured that I should just show a picture of the final jacket. I love how the water beads up on this jacket which is nice in spring when there is a lot of light rain.
In summary, these products are great not only because they are gentle and green, but also because we found them to be effective!

I was provided with this information that really motivated me to try Nikwax! "Laundering with Nikwax in place of detergent is a gentle, green, and effective way to clean, protect, and prolong the life of your favorite clothes, outdoor gear and shoes. Nikwax is 100% waterbased and biodegradable and does not contain fluorocarbons/VOCs, which means it is safe for your family, your washer and the environment.
Give cloth diaper covers a boost with Nikwax's TX Direct. Waterproof the covers with this leading waterproofing product and make leaks a thing of the past. This new waterproofer surpasses industry mandates for waterproofing and resiliency by 50-times, and is so effective that it offersfive times more protection than the original formula. With an easy spray on or wash in option, you can waterproof anything in a jif.
Another great product to consider is Tech Wash. Maybe you inherited some super cute, yet a little stained or stinky, hand me downs from friends or big sis. This wash-in cleaner safely and gently refreshes clothing and equipment, and revitalizes breathability and water-repellency. This product is a non-detergent soap that can be used regularly to clean clothing, and even baby equipment, without damaging the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coatings (so great for those dirty cloth diapers). Use this product instead of detergent for getting out those funky smells and stains of spit up or throw up, or just food tossed up, from your baby's, or your, clothes."

Tech Wash sounds great. I would love to use it on my husbands wind jacket. The waterproofing on it is going out!
