Week 7
I have lost 10 pounds in less than two months and am sharing my experience as a Nutrisystem Nation Blogger! I posted last week about how each week on Nutrisystem has
been easier as time has gone on because I developed new habits that seemed more
natural with time. While I made it
through the holidays and ate in moderation, my biggest challenge came this
week. I visited the Krispy Kreme World Headquarters and had the opportunity to
try out as many of their amazing doughnuts as I wanted. Their doughnuts are one of my favorite
treats! The woman that invited me on the trip told me that the key to being at
the Krispy Kreme headquarters is moderation.
It’s true – why not enjoy a special treat once in a while and savor the
taste in a reasonable portions? Throughout the
trip, I purposefully ate a lot of salad and tried to pack veggies into my meals
whenever possible. At each opportunity
to try a Krispy Kreme, I was cautious about my portion sizes. Sometimes I would
only take one bite out of the different varieties because I wanted to try new
things and enjoy myself, but within moderation. My trip was a success!
So how did I do this week?
I didn’t lose any weight, but I also didn’t gain any weight. I consider
this a huge success because I did something that I really enjoyed, but was
healthy about it. I didn’t binge on several doughnuts in one sitting. I didn’t
even eat two doughnuts in a sitting. The
old me may have done that, but the post-Nutrisystem me was able to have fun
in moderation. This was a trip with memories that I’ll
always treasure and it’s nice to know that I was basically set free to have
absolutely anything that I wanted and as much as I wanted, but I could have fun
without going overboard. While a visit to the Krispy Kreme World Headquarters is extreme, all of us still have tempting opportunities where we are around our favorite desserts. There is no reason to deprive yourself of things that you enjoy, but moderation is key!
If you were set free to have anything that you wanted and as much as
you wanted at a doughnut shop, candy store, or chocolate shop, would you (a)
overeat or (b) enjoy, but in moderation?
PS – my answer to the question is that the old me would
overeat, but the post-Nutrisystem me is capable of enjoying in moderation!
