Review: Emmi Fondue

Review: Emmi Fondue
With Valentine's Day coming up, you may want to consider serving Fondue for dinner or dessert.

This was my first experience making fondue on my own. I was always intimidated because others have made it for me in the past, but they had elaborate recipes. I didn't realize that you could simply buy packages that have everything that you need so that you simply pour the contents into the fondue pot and stir!

One brand that has everything that you need in one box is Emmi. It is a Swiss brand that you can buy in the U.S. I tried the Emmi Original Cheese Fondue and Emmi Chocolate Fondue mix.

We started with the cheese fondue shown below.
We simply poured the package into the fondue pot and stirred it as it heated up. I served it with chopped broccoli crowns, tomatoes, whole grain bread, and apples. I also included pretzels rods for my toddler.  (The blueberries, bananas, and brownies in the photo are for later when we use the chocolate fondue.)
You can see how rich the cheese looks on the bread, apple, and broccoli below. The taste was amazing and I don't know that I could have done it any better with an elaborate recipe. Emmi has this recipe down! It definitely tastes like cheese, but the hints of alcohol come through. I liked it best with the apples, but my husband liked it best with the broccoli. My son liked it on pretzels. In any case, it disappeared quickly!

Next, we tried the chocolate fondue. Everyone was full from the cheese fondue and yet they managed to find room to try dessert! Again, Emmi made it easy because I simply poured the contents into the fondue pot and stirred! You can see the chips that I poured into the pot and then how creamy it looks after they melted. Even though this only took a few minutes to prepare, my family was impatient because it looked so rich. You could see swirls of white chocolate while I stirred it!
We dipped brownies, bananas, marshmallows, blueberries, and pretzels. I tease my husband that he went too wild for this because you can see in the photo below that he dropped brownie crumbs in the pot because he was in such a rush to try it out!
My favorite was the chocolate dipped blueberries!

My son's favorite was chocolate dipped mashmallows!
My husband's favorite was the chocolate dipped apples!
As you can see from the happy and messy face below, my son enjoyed the variety in our dinner tonight!  He can't wait to have fondue again!

Have you ever had fondue for Valentine's Day? Do you plan to have fondue this Valentine's Day?
