Review: Kohl's Cares - Dr. Suess

Review: Kohl's Cares - Dr. Suess
Have you ever noticed the $5 specials near the cash register at Kohl's? Not only are the items fabulous deals at $5/each, but they are part of the Kohl's Cares program that raises money for good causes! The funds go to causes such as Kids Health & Education, Women's Health, Environmental Solutions, and Associates in Action (to help volunteers).

My favorite Kohl's Cares items are the ones for my son. They frequently have classic books for children and cuddly stuffed animals that match the books. We've been a fan of these over the years and some of our favorites have been The Hungry Caterpillar and Clifford The Big Red Dog.  Their current offering is officially my all-time-favorite Kohl's Cares merchandise - Dr. Suess books and stuffed animals! Dr. Suess is always trendy, so we were excited to find that they have some of the most popular Dr. Suess books and cuddly stuffed animals to go with each book!

Check out the great books and super soft stuffed animals that we received below! On the left, we have "Dr. Suess's Sleep Book" and the softest yellow character doll. On the right, you will see the popular book, "Horton Hears a Who!" and the fluffy Horton stuffed animal!

I first shared the Dr. Suess's Sleep Book and the vivid yellow stuffed animal with my toddler. Check out the baby smile as he quickly grabs his new friend!

The book is awesome because it keeps my son's attention. You can see  below that he is engaged in this book. I try very hard to get my son to read books with me, but he often wants to do other things instead. It was amazing that I could read him this entire book and it kept his attention. He actively listened to me reading it and he enjoyed pointing at images on the pages to tell me about them or to ask questions.  It is like a switch flipped because he is suddenly loves books!

The next one that I shared with him is "Horton Hears a Who". The fluffy Horton elephant doll has not left his side ever since I gave it to him. He went to bed with it and even took it with him to his class today. He loved the book and it was nice to see him engaged. I also loved all of the baby giggles that he had while we read it. The message is nice too - everyone is important, no matter how big or small. This is a fun book that we will read many times over.

As I mentioned, these books and stuffed animals are only $5/each right now and Kohl's donates the profit to good causes. While my son loves these, I think that they are also great for birthday gifts. We have a lot of toddler birthday parties to attend and these books and stuffed animals make trendy birthday gifts! We spend about $20 on birthday gifts for little friends in his class. That is equal to two books and two stuffed animals. I think that the kids and parents will equally love these gifts.

The Kohl's Cares program is one of my favorite ways to help good causes. Kohl's takes their expertise in knowing what people will want to buy, somehow figures out how to sell them items for only $5, and gives the profit to charities. It's a win-win-win for Kohl's, me, and the great causes. I suppose that it is also a win for the kids that invite my son to their birthday parties too!

Do you have a little one that loves Dr. Suess?
