The summer went by quickly and we are now settling into our Fall routines. One thing that I am looking forward to is the extra hour of sleep thanks to Daylight Savings Time on November 3rd. I cannot wait for that happy day when we get to sleep in a little longer. In addition to the tradition of sleeping a little longer and changing clocks, you should also consider changing the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Energizer, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and fire departments nationwide are joining forces for the "Change Your Clock Change Your Battery" program to raise awareness of the important of working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to keep our families safe. This is the 26th year of this annual program that helps to save lives!
Let me tell you more about our own "Change Your Clock Change Your Battery" tradition.
If you have been following our site for a while, you'll know that one of our family traditions is to change the batteries in our smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors once a year. I love this tradition because we obviously remember to change our clocks, so it's easy to add on the checks to our smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. We change our clocks and change our batteries when we wake up and then enjoy a family breakfast together. It's a win-win as we spend quality time together and make sure that our smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors are in good condition with new batteries.
We hope that you will personally participate in the "Change Your Clock Change Your Battery" program and encourage your friends and family to do this same!
