Trendy Smiles with Invisalign #InvisalignTalk

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Invisalign.
When my baby was born and had a minor health problem, someone told me that there is no such thing as a perfect child. I was startled by her comment because she was a mother of 5 children and I didn't expect this brutal honesty. She quickly listed off various minor problems that she has had with her children, but said that they are all happy and healthy grown adults with children of their own. One of her most memorable stories was about how all 5 children needed braces and this was not covered by her insurance in the 1980's. However, she felt that it was important to improve the confidence of her children and that straightening their teeth was a worthwhile investment since the results would last a lifetime. She said that this was one of the best investments that she has ever made and that it was appreciated by her children.

Crooked teeth is an example of a minor problem for many people that is not a life-or-death matter, but is still an important issue because it is a solvable problem that can improve the self-esteem and confidence of tweens and teens. Personally, one of our family members used Invisalign braces for 12 months and raves about the experience and results. It was amazing to see her confidence improve thanks to her pretty smile with straight teeth.

Invisalign Teen helps to straighten teeth by using clear aligners that are removable.  This is a great alternative to a mouth full of metal with traditional wires and brackets.  Teens are able to look good and feel more confident while they go through the teeth straightening process. They can remove their aligners at any time.  For instance, if there is a wedding or other event to attend, it is easy to remove the aligners for photos. It is also convenient to be able to remove them for music rehearsals or even sports.

As I mentioned, one of our family members worked with an orthodontist that provides Invisalign. We were initially hesitant because we thought that it would be more expensive than traditional metal braces. However, it turned out to be comparable in price.  I'm not sure why we believed the myth that it would be too expensive.  It was nice to learn that the price was reasonable, especially in comparison to the different options. Check out this calculator to estimate the cost of braces.  In addition, we learned that many dental insurance policies cover Invisalign and Invisalign Teen similar to traditional braces. Flexible Spending Health Savings Accounts (HSA's) may also be used for Invisalign so that you can spend pre-tax dollars.

The Invisalign Teen process was really nice because she felt more confident than she would have if she had a mouth for of metals brackets and wires. It was also very convenient as she was able to wear the aligners the majority of the time, but still take them out for special occasions such as weddings,  music rehearsals, and sports.  She really liked her orthodontist and had a positive experience.  He was an advocate of Invisalign because he knows the reality of dealing with sensitive teens and appreciates the opportunity to make the teeth straightening process more enjoyable for them.  He even commented that one of the best parts of his job is seeing the reaction of patients that feel confident thanks to their beautiful smile!   I think that many dentists love offering Invisalign because it provides a positive life changing experience to many patients.
The process includes some good checkpoints that many parents appreciate. For instance, small blue dots that are officially called "compliance indicators" gradually fade as the aligners are worn. This makes it each for doctors, teens, and parents to confirm that the aligners are being worn enough to get results.  As a mom, you will also appreciate that Invisalign Teen includes up to six free replacement aligners, although clinical data from orthodonists reports that the average teen in their study wore their aligners an average of 21 hours per day like they recommended.  (We love this great coverage and just wish that cell phone companies could mimic this idea of extra replacement items for tweens and teens!)
