Personally, we enjoyed walking through the festive hotel and then experienced ICE! and Santa's Wild Workshop Snow Tubing. Their winter wonderland includes two million twinkling lights, a 54-foot-tall Christmas tree, 25-foot-tall Nutcrackers, and 15,000 ornaments. Here are a few photos.
The collage below shows just a few of their beautiful trees and a nutcracker. It's easy to spend an hour just walking around the lobby to check out the holiday decorations.
Here are a few more photos from the lobby.
Of course, even the iconic Alamo is ready for the holidays!
The theme of this year's ICE! is Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. You will want to dress warm because it is 9-degrees inside of the exhibits. If you do not have a winter coat, don't worry because the admission allows you to borrow a trendy blue parka for free. You'll also want to wear closed-toe shoes since it is quite cold and there are opportunities to go down slides. If you are a Texan who wants an excuse to wear boots, this is your opportunity!
The team of artists created 2 million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures that are truly amazing. Your path through the exhibit follows the classic Santa Claus story. I won't spoil it for you, but here are a few photos to give you the general idea of the unique and captivating displays.
Every turn holds beautiful surprises.
As I mentioned, there are plenty of surprises. The ice slides were among my son's favorites.
In addition to the ice sculptures and slides, there is also an ice bar to visit. They offer packages with special alcoholic drinks. It's amazing to visit an ice bar here in Texas!
Finally, Santa's Wild Workshop is a lot of fun. My son loved riding down the hills!
The Gaylord Texan is an amazing winter wonderland! We only scratched the surface on our visit and plan to go back again when our out-of-state family visits for the holidays. We hope that you also have the opportunity to visit as this iconic holiday attraction with your family! This is an experience that every child in the DFW metro should experience because it is fun and memorable.
