Every once in a while, I come across something that warms my heart and makes me smile. In today's post, I'll share something wonderful that I found - 50 teachers won in the zulily Thank a Teacher contest. I'll also tell you about a selection of items on zulily that were curated by teachers and share a 15% off special.
zulily Thank a Teacher
There were 8,000+ entries and zulily narrowed the results to 50 teachers and surprised them with awards. They each receive $500 in zulily credit to use in their classrooms! Isn't that a fun idea?!
Here are a few winners that warmed my heart:
Marina Collier, 2nd Grade, Gilmore Elementary, League City, TXMarina has gone above and beyond for what she considers her children in her home away from home. I have seen Mrs. Collier literally give a little girl one of the shirts off her own back when she was cold. She goes above and beyond to make each student realize they have potential for all things and while they may alone sometimes in this world they will always have her and her love for years to come. She’s not just a teacher, she is someone people should strive to be more like. – Meagan MolinaYou will find the full list here.
Pamela St. Onge, Elementary, All Grades, Pontiac School District, Pontiac, MIMs. St. Onge always goes above and beyond her duties of a fifth-grade teacher. She tutors some of her students after school, four days a week, without the benefit of extra pay for her time. And as a treat for her students, she takes all of them out to dinner at least one time during the school year. She is always upbeat and happy and makes learning fun. – Denise Stockwell
Jessica Lara , 2nd Grade, WCSD Bud Beasley Elementary, Sparks, NVMy son Colton is in Mrs. Lara’s second grade class. Mrs. Lara is an amazing and caring teacher. Her specialty is reading/writing and her classroom is bright, cheery and organized. She makes learning fun by playing games to learn words and make projects. The most interesting project was a Greek god made of toilet paper rolls (and I saved a LOT of toilet paper rolls). She focuses on making each child successful and special in their own way. – Crystal Retreat
Let me also share some sweet videos that will warm your heart. The first video is about a teacher that made a big difference.
This video discusses challenges faced by teachers.
