Jason's Deli is Making a Difference this Month for National Cancer Survivors Month

Did you know that June is National Cancer Survivors Month?  If you follow regularly, you know that this is an issue that affected me personally.  Cancer is a devastating disease that is estimated to cause the 1,500 deaths per day. That is approximately 564,800 Americans that may die of cancer this year.  Fortunately, some people survive cancer and have positive outlooks on life. In today's post, I'll tell you about how Jason's Deli has teamed up with MD Anderson Cancer Center to not only donate $726,000, but also to help with nutrition education. Jason's Deli has a new Salmon Pacifica Salad that is nutrient dense and for which 50-cents from every sale of this menu item goes to MD Anderson.

As I mentioned earlier, June is National Cancer Survivors Month. I encourage each of you to do something nice for a Cancer Survivor this month so that they feel special and loved.  Cancer survivors are lucky to survive, but they still carry the burden from the past and often wonder how long they will stay in remission or even if a different type of cancer will develop. It's tough. However, the love of family and friends with the knowledge that researchers are working hard to find cures makes a big difference. I encourage all of you to do something nice for a cancer survivor this month so that they are reminded that nice surprises happen in life too.

If you are looking for a thoughtful idea, consider buying Salmon Pacifica Salads from Jason's Deli for your Cancer Survivor friends and family.  It's a healthy meal and 50-cents from the purchase of each salad will go to the MD Anderson Cancer Center. This trendy entree salad was created in collaboration with MD Anderson's dietitians and cancer prevention researchers. This 450-calorie salad is packed with nutrients, including:
  • Wild-caught Alaska sockeye salmon with Omega-3 benefits
  • Avocado filled with more potassium than bananas
  • Grape tomatoes full of lycopene
  • Fire-roasted Piquillo peppers, cucumbers and pickled red onions add to the variety of plant-based ingredients
  • USDA-certified organic field greens free of pesticides
  • New cucumber-dill vinaigrette
Personally, when I saw this Jason's Deli campaign to support the MD Anderson Cancer Center, I was excited to share.  Every contribution - large and small - makes a difference.  I hope that there will be a painless cure for every type of cancer in my lifetime. While a cure may or may not be found soon, there is always hope when people pitch in to try to make a difference.  I hope that each of you will find a way to help during National Cancer Survivors Month.

Win it!
Jason's Deli is also running an Instagram contest. Use #mysalmonpacifica for a chance to win a $50 gift card. One gift card will be awarded each day during the month of June!
