Local Victims of Domestic Violence to Receive Support from Dental Centers’ Dental Deputies Program

Each year in Texas, domestic violence results in an estimated 1,200 deaths and 2 million injuries among women. To help victims in crisis, Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) created its Dental Deputies program. This October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, GEDC is teaming up with metro Dallas schools, to collect dentalhygiene items for various shelters assisting domestic violence victims and families, including Genesis Women’s Shelter. As a fellow mom, I would love it if you would share this information on social media so that we are able to reach an even larger audience and help spread the word about this program.

As I mentioned earlier, it is heart breaking that there is an estimated 1,200 deaths and 2 million injuries among women in Texas due to domestic violence.  Personally, we donate to a local organization to help domestic violence victims. I like to think that we are all able to make a small difference and that these small acts of kindness add up quickly to help those in need. I recently came across something that Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) is doing for victims in crisis in Dallas and want to share.

To aid victims in crisis in Dallas, Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) is launching its Dental Deputies program – a community-based initiative partnering with local schools to collect dental hygiene items for donation to area shelters during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October).

Working with neighborhood preschools, daycare centers and schools to gather donations, GEDC will match each item collected. Students at participating schools will also receive free dental care education tips during a visit from their local GEDC dentist. Donations will be delivered to the Dallas-based Genesis Women’s Shelter.

“Every nine seconds, another woman is beaten, and once those women have the courage to leave their homes and partners, they are often fleeing with only the clothes on their backs,” said Richard Beckman, CEO of Great Expressions DentalCenters. “That’s why we created our Dental Deputies program. It’s one small way we can provide relief to these victims and support local shelters.”
GEDC is inviting additional community partners to join the cause in hopes of maximizing the number of items collected in support of women in crisis. Schools and other organizations interested in supporting the Dental Deputies program should contact their local GEDC office. To find your local center, please visit here.

This is a cause that is close to my heart as a mom.  I hope that you will share this information on social media and help to spread the word because all of our small acts of kindness and caring attitudes to share information like this will add up and make a difference!
