Visit the Perot Museum to See the New Paleo Lab

As I mentioned yesterday, Dino Fest at the Perot Museum is amazing! Let me share a quick summary again.

Let's start with the new Paleo Lab. Here are some details:
The new Paleo Lab makes its public debut this weekend. The new glass-encased permanent exhibit will give guests real-time views of the dynamic dinosaur research of Museum paleontologists as they process and prepare fossils fresh from the field. Cameras in the lab will project close-up views of live fossil preparation while Museum Brainiacs explain and demonstrate the tools and techniques, and how this work connects to the specimens displayed throughout the exhibit hall. Guests just might witness the unearthing of a new prehistoric species.

The Museum’s paleo research team has already made several big discoveries, including Nanuqsaurus hoglundi, the polar tyrannosaur that will greet guests from atop the new Paleo Lab. A pint-sized cousin of the T. rex, Nanuqsaurus was discovered and named by the Perot Museum’s renowned paleontologists, Dr. Tony Fiorillo and Dr. Ron Tykoski, in 2014. The new skeletal reconstruction of Nanuqsaurus for the Paleo Lab is the first ever on display!

In addition to checking out the new Paleo  Lab, my children enjoyed many dinosaur themed activities. Let me share a few.

My oldest son's favorite activity was to make Dinosaur Succulents.  Check out the trendy little dinosaur planter below.

My youngest son's favorite activity was a dino dig!

Check out the generously packed sandbox below!

This was his favorite find!

Both of my children also enjoyed making dinosaur tracks with paint.

They made plenty of dinosaur themed artwork.

Another highlight was an interactive experience where we had the opportunity to interact with animated dinosaurs that responded to our body movements.  Both of my children loved this exhibit!

We hope that you enjoyed this quick glimpse into our visit and that you are able to visit the Perot Museum to check out the fun dinosaur themed exhibits. This is a fabulous opportunity to bond with your family and to learn new things.  You may buy tickets onsite or purchase them in advance on the Perot Museum website here.
