The Crayola Experience in Plano is for Kids of All Ages: Our Top 5 Favorite Activities

The Crayola Experience in Plano is for Kids of All Ages: Our Top 5 Favorite Activities

If you follow regularly, you know that I often feel stretched thin with my two boys who have a large age gap. They are both full of energy and usually have different interests due to their ages. My 8-year old is sometimes annoyed by his 1-year old brother that requires a lot of my attention.  It definitely takes work to accommodate both of them so that they are happy and thrive. I recently came across an attraction that fits both of their ages and interests -- the Crayola Experience in Plano. My energetic and creative little boys both had a blast at this trendy attraction that is located in The Shops at Willow Bend. In today's post, I'll share a glimpse into our top 5 attractions out of the 22 that are available. (It was difficult to pick only five, so I wouldn't be surprised if your kids think that others deserve to be in the Top 5 too!  We are only scratching the surface in this post.)

Let's start with a quick overview. The Crayola Experience in Plano is 60,000 square feet in size and offers 22 unique attractions that will keep your children busy for hours.  They even have Cafe Crayola and a trendy Crayola store.  Here is a list of the attractions and you are welcome to click on any of them to learn more:

Let me share our favorite Top 5 activities.
#1: Color Alive
My oldest son's favorite thing about the Crayola Experience was the combination of hands-on artwork with technology. Color Alive is an example of combining art and technology.  It was a lot of fun to color or paint pictures and then add extra life to them with technology.

The next two exhibits kept my children busy for the majority of our visit.  When you visit, your ticket includes two tokens and you may buy additional tokens for 50-cents. We used one token to create a customized crayon and the other to buy Model Magic modeling clay from a vending machine.

#2: Wrap it Up
The Wrap it Up exhibit allows children to create their own crayon wrapper to wrap around a crayon.  The crayon below is my son's Robin's Egg Blue crayon with a little rocket ship.  He treasures this special crayon!  (You may also print your child's name or anything else on the wrapper. There is plenty of room for creativity. If you have a long car ride, let me suggest that you discuss potential crayon names on your way there!)

#3: Modeling Madness
As I mentioned earlier, my children used their second tokens to buy Model Magic modeling clay from a vending machine.  They then spent a lot of time in the Modeling Madness area.  I won't spoil the surprises for you, but I will tell you that there is plenty of seating at colorful tables that are stocked with supplies to help your little artists to sculpt trendy creations!

#4: Paint Palette
Another thing that my children enjoyed was the opportunity to pain with water colors.  The Paint Palette area had several tables that were generously stocked with supplies.  The best part was a drying oven where the children placed their artwork on a conveyor belt and watched the magic happen as their artwork dried on it's way through the oven.

#5: Cafe Stage
The Cafe Stage offers several show times each day. This is a fantastic opportunity for your family to learn about the history of Crayola and their products.

As I mentioned earlier, it was challenging to narrow down our Top 5 favorite activities at the Crayola Experience in Plano. There are 22 unique attractions at the Crayola Experience in Plano and they are all fantastic!  Again, if you want the entire list, visit their website here.

Finally, on our way out of the Crayola Experience, we stopped at the gift shop. This colorful store is packed with trendy items.

My oldest son loved the candy shop options.

I have to admit that I also loved the special treats in the gift shop. My favorites are the the Dylan's Candy Bar chocolate bars.

They have a fabulous selection of colorful Crayola t-shirts.

There are water bottles, cups, and more!  You'll be impressed with the colorful options.

We hope that you enjoyed this glimpse into our visit to the Crayola Experience in Plano. This trendy attraction is fantastic for children of all ages!
