- The Woodlands Resort: A Trendy Hop, Skip, and a Jump from Dallas/Fort Worth #Travel #DFW

We recently had the opportunity to visit The Woodlands Resort. It is a perfect destination for those of us in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro as it is located just 3 hours away. The directions are easy as you simply take the I-45 and then a few smaller roads to the resort entrance.  This was our first visit and we definitely plan to visit again because of the location and luxurious amenities for our entire family. In this post, I will share personal photos and highlights of each family member's favorite resort features.

The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center is an upscale resort that is nestled into a beautiful wooded area that spans many acres. The designers of this resort paid close attention to detail to create an amazing experience for visitors. Some of the highlights that we will share in this post include:
  • Spa treatments
  • An extensive pool area, including a splash pad, lazy river, underwater music, and more
  • Dining options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, including everything from pool side snacks to fine dining
  • Beautiful and spacious rooms
  • Nature paths
  • Amazing staff members that aim to please
As I mentioned, we drove approximately 3 hours from Dallas to the resort. My five year old little boy was exploding with excitement for the entire car ride. It was adorable because we had visited the resort website every evening before bedtime for the past week.  He was ready to be our tour guide because he had memorized all of the fun activities, including the iconic Swim-In Movie with popcorn.

We arrived at the resort around 3pm and were greeted by an amazing staff that was ready for our visit. The photo below shows the beautiful entry to the registration area.

We quickly checked in and headed to our room that was in Building 3. The photo below shows the building. We love the natural look that blends well with the resort.

Our room was beautiful. The photos below show the modern design and luxurious touches.

Here is a photo of the view from our room that shows part of the famous golf course.

Our first stop was to take a sneak peek at the amazing pool area that includes multiple pools, splash areas, and a lazy river.  We'll show more shortly, but here is a photo that shows part of the paradise.

We visited The Bistro restaurant on our first evening. The restaurant overlooks beautiful water and landscaping. Our food was perfect and worth every calorie!

We returned to our room and found an amazing surprise - a delicious cookie cake and bottles of milk! We couldn't believe that they left an entire cookie cake in our room.  I guess that everything is bigger in Texas! This was the perfect family-friendly surprise.

We enjoyed our snack on the balcony and enjoyed the beautiful view.

We woke up the next morning and took a nature walk in the light rain. It was nice to enjoy the peaceful beauty around us.

The  landscaping was just beautiful. Here is a photo of one of my favorite plants.

After our morning walk, we visited the pool area. My son couldn't have been happier!  Throughout the day, he continually asked if we could move to The Woodlands Resort. Here is a photo of my son at the baby pool area.

Our next stop was the Lazy River.  We had a blast circling around the Lazy River. Our son insisted that we go around it five times since he is five years old. One of the highlights of our tours around the Lazy River was finding a baby frog as shown below.

The Splash Pad was a huge hit as well. My son giggled nonstop as he chased the water!

The Cool Water Cafe offers drinks, snacks, and meals in the pool area. My husband and I enjoyed healthy wraps for lunch. My son was overjoyed by his Kids Meal shown below!  The staff was wonderful to check on us frequently to make sure that we had everything that we wanted.

After our poolside lunch, we continued our fun. The resort is incredibly child friendly. Not only did our son have fun splashing around all day, but he also had fun playing games, toasting S'mores, and watching a Swim-in Movie. Some of the games include Giant Jenga, Bowling, Limbo, Treasure Hunts, Ring Toss, and more.

The Swim-In Movie was another highlight. My son couldn't believe that he could swim and watch a movie!  We watched Monster's University which was great.  The wonderful staff also walked around and served popcorn to everyone.

Another fun evening activity was the S'mores bar. We enjoyed these rich and gooey snacks together. After S'mores and the Swim-In Movie, we tucked our son into bed and enjoyed a glass of wine on the balcony.

While I have focused mainly on the family activities, I also have to share that there are many opportunities for adults to have fun on their own. For instance, I enjoyed a manicure and pedicure in the beautiful spa area.  The spa offers a full range of services, including massages, facials, manicures, and more.

The Woodlands Resort also has an award-winning golf course. It is ranked as one of the top 75 golf courses in the country.  It's absolutely gorgeous and provides a great way to relax.

The Woodlands Resort is absolutely amazing!  While it is only three hours away from Dallas, we felt like we were a world away.  We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, luxurious rooms, fun pool area with activities, relaxing spa, and delicious meals.
