Thanks to Paramount Entertainment for sending us a copy of this movie and fun supplies to host a Family Movie Night so that we could share our experience with you. All opinions are honest and my own.
We love Family Movie Nights at our house. We aren't always able to agree on a movie to watch, but this week, we found a winner that is perfect for all of our ages -- Playing with Fire (staring John Cena). In today's post, I'll tell you about this family friendly movie and share some fun ideas for family bonding.
Here is a quick overview of the movie:
Called “fun for the whole family” (Mark Pacis, Nerd Reactor) and “full of laughs” (Jamie Mariano, The Movie Elite), the hilarious family comedy PLAYING WITH FIRE debuts on Digital January 21, 2020 and on Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand February 4 from Paramount Home Entertainment.
The Digital* and Blu-ray releases deliver even more laughs with wildly funny bonus content. Sit down with Captain Jake (John Cena) as he reads a bedtime story with an amusing twist; see what you missed in theaters with deleted scenes and laugh-out-loud bloopers; plus, enjoy behind-the-scenes featurettes with the cast.
When firefighter Jake Carson (John Cena) and his team (Keegan-Michael Key & John Leguizamo) rescue three siblings in the path of a wildfire, they quickly realize that no amount of training could have prepared them for their most challenging job yet – babysitting. While trying to locate the children’s parents, the firefighters have their lives, jobs and even their fire station turned upside down and learn that kids – much like fires – are wild and full of surprises.

This movie is packed with entertaining scenes. Aside from providing the brief overview and link to the short preview, I won't spoil any surprises. However, let me share some fun ideas for your family to bond during or after the movie.
1. Dress up your water bottles to look like fire extinguishers.
You may either order water bottles that look like fire extinguishers or dress up existing water bottles by using red and white paper, tape, and a sharpie marker.
2. Set up a Giant Jenga game.
What's better than a Family Movie Night? I'd say that it's a Family Movie Night that also includes games! After watching this movie, you'll definitely want to play Giant Jenga!
3. Provide spicy snacks and water.
As Texans, my boys love to push their limits with spicy foods. Stock up on spicy foods to see who has the highest tolerance and then use your fire extinguisher water bottles to put out the fire. (Example foods include spicy cheetos, salsas, and anything with hot sauce!)
4. Share happy memories.
Prior to the movie, ask each family member to watch the movie and think about things that remind them of their own family. This movie is packed with great moments, so this is a fun conversation starter after the movie ends.
5. Make snacks for your local fire department.
This movie certainly reminds you of how important our first responders are to each of us. Take the time to add notes to snacks for them. For instance, add a note to Lifesavers to thank them for being lifesavers or attach a note to a Peppermint Patty that thanks them for keeping their cool in tough situations. Drop them off as a family.
I hope that our post inspires you to check out this fantastic movie. I think that it's a great movie to watch and to own on Blu-Ray Combo & Digital.
