Recipe: Easy Vanilla Cake Pops with Sprinkles using Cake Mix
Ingredients
- 1 box of vanilla cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 container prepared vanilla frosting
- 1 package of white candy melts
- 1/3 cup candy sprinkles, or as needed
- 1 cardboard box with small holes cut into it to hold the cake pops
- while they dry (Approximately 14"x 14" is a great size.)
- 1 package lollipop sticks
- Optional: bags and ties for packaging
1. Prepare the vanilla cake as instructed on the box. The box that we used required 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 3 large eggs. Follow the instructions on your respective box.
2. Pour the sprinkles into a bowl and set aside.
3. Allow cake to cool. Using a large mixing bowel, break the cake into small pieces and then mix in the frosting. Start by using 3/4 of the container of frosting and then add more if it suites your taste.
4. Form the cake and frosting mixture into balls that are slightly
smaller than golf balls. Place them on parchment paper and put them in the freezer for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
5. Melt the candy melts in the microwave or as instructed on the
package.
6. Coat each lollipop stick with the candy melts and then into each cake pop. Then coat the cake ball until thoroughly covered.
7. Dip the cake pop into the sprinkles. (Small sprinkles like the ones that we used look better than larger sprinkles.)
8. Put each cake pop in the cardboard so that they are sticking up and able to dry without any of the coated surface touching anything.
9. Optionally, place each cake pop in a little bag and tie a string
around it.
