10 Ways to Use up Cantaloupe

10 Ways to Use up Cantaloupe

Try these 10 fun and delicious ways to use up cantaloupe!

1. Freeze cantaloupe. Cut the cantaloupe in half (or smaller sections). Remove the rind and seeds. Chop the cantaloupe into small pieces and place in a freezer bag.  It's best to freeze the cantaloupe while it is still fresh.

2. Wrap in prosciutto. Cut the cantaloupe into small pieces and wrap in prosciutto for a lovely appetizer.

3. Add it to a smoothie. Personally we add a small amount to strawberry yogurt smoothies.

4. Create a sorbet. Cantaloupe sorbet is not common, but it is a thing and we love it.

5. Create popsicles. Chop the cantaloupe into small pieces and mix them into popsicles before freezing.

6. Use a cookie cutter to make it more fun for kids.  If I give my kids chunks of cantaloupe, they aren't excited. If I use a cookie cutter to make cantaloupe animals, then it's suddenly more appealing.

7. Add it margaritas. Texans love margaritas. Again, cantaloupe margaritas are not common, but I think that they are delicious!

8. Make a lip scrub. Blend a little bit into a lip scrub recipe for a fruity version.

9. Use it to decorate a tart or other dessert.  Cut pieces of cantaloupe into cute shapes and use the shapes to decorate the top of a tart or other dessert.

10. Use it to make a fruit bouquet or fruit kabob.  Sometimes it's all about presentation. Use cookie cutters to create cute shapes and put them on kabob sticks. Serve individually or create an entire basket.  For an extra touch cut out some cantaloupe flowers and dip half in chocolate.
