Family Movie Night: Terra Willy is a Fantastic Movie that is Currently 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes!

This is a tough time to be a parent of young children. Personally, my husband and I have been working and tag teaming each other to monitor virtual schooling for our children. The pandemic has dragged on for months and we could all use a fun break. In today's post, I'll tell you about a fantastic movie that critics are loving -- Terra Willy! This movie is rated PG and is perfect for families. The release date is October 27, 2020. Personally, our family had a wonderful time watching this movie, so I knew that I had to share this movie with other parents who need a family friendly movie night! In today's post, I'll tell you about the movie, share a fun recipe for Alien Guacamole, and point you to fun activities.

Terra Willy tells the story of a young boy who crash lands on a wild and unexplored planet after he is separated from his parents following the destruction of their spaceship. With the help of Buck, a survival robot, and and Flash, an alien creature, he will have to hold until the arrival of a rescue mission.

This animated family friendly movie stars: Timothé Vom Dorp, Edouard Baer, and Marie-Eugénie Maréchal. It is directed by Eric Tosti.

Our family quickly fell in love with the main characters. The storyline and animations are fantastic. I don't want to ruin too many surprises, but I will tell you that I completely agree with the critics who are raving about this movie.  It's the best movie that we've seen in a while. We appreciated the opportunity to relax as a family and to escape to another world as we watched this movie. 

This movie is 89 minutes long, so you'll want out-of-this-world snacks!   Let me share my Alien Guacamole recipe. I thought that since the movie currently has a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes that we needed a fresh alien themed recipe.

Recipe: Alien Guacamole 

Ingredients

• 2 ripe avocados
• 1 lime
• 1/4 bunch of cilantro

Directions

1. Cut the avocados lengthwise in half and remove the pits.

2. Remove the skin from the avocados and set aside.

3. Cut the shapes of alien eyes, noses, and mouths from the avocado skin. Place them on the avocado halves for decoration so that they look like alien faces.

4. Wash and dry the cilantro.

5. Serve the avocado alien heads on a plate with the lime, cilantro, and chips.

6. Allow each family member to make their own small bowl of Alien Guacamole.  First, instruct them to discard the eyes, nose, and mouth before mashing the avocado in their bowl.

7. Instruct each family member to squeeze the lime into their mashed avocado and to mix it well.

8. Instruct each family member to tear their cilantro into small pieces and to mix it into their guacamole.

9. Enjoy immediately!

After the movie, enjoy fun Terra Willy themed activities!

The first activity is a coloring sheet that you may post on Instagram for a chance to win.

The next is a word search. Make it competitive by offering a prize for the family member who finishes first! (My children have a large age gap, so we compete on teams to give our youngest a change at winning.)

Another competitive activity is to count the stars below. It's great practice for little ones!
