The Winter 2020 FabFitFun Box is Packed with Fabulous Products + Supports Katie Couric's Stand Up to Cancer Nonprofit Organization

In today's post, I will tell you about the FabFitFun Winter 2020 Box that I received. I also want to highlight that FabFitFun teamed up with Katie Couric to raise awareness and money for her incredible nonprofit, Stand Up To Cancer!

Why do I care so much about Katie Couric and her Stand Up To Cancer organization?

Katie Couric and her Stand Up to Cancer nonprofit are close to my heart  because I leaned on their resources when I had cancerous polyps removed from my colon. Katie's famous live colonoscopy video eased my worries when I was getting ready for the procedure. It also reinforced the importance of the procedure.

Something that I haven't shared with all of you is that I am at high risk for colon cancer. I had my first screening this year and my doctor discovered cancerous polyps. It's not something that I like to talk about, but I decided to share when I found out that FabFitFun teamed up to support Katie Couric's Stand Up To Cancer nonprofit.

If you aren't familiar, a colonoscopy procedure is typically recommended for ages 50+. However, there has been an increase in colon cancer among younger age groups and some doctors recommend it at age 45.   I had a colonoscopy even sooner because I am at high risk for colon cancer.

I was nervous about the procedure. Katie Couric's  famous Youtube video helped to ease my worries. In this video, she brings awareness to colon cancer prevention as shares her experience of (a) preparing for a colonoscopy and (b) having the procedure.  If you think about it - having a colonoscopy and sharing a video like this is incredibly personal! Katie shared a serious act of kindness to show others that it's not as bad as it sounds. Her video gave me encouragement to stay positive and reinforced that it's an important procedure.  I'm sure that it has helped many others as well.

Given my experience and that a colonoscopy saved my life, I agree with Katie Couric that colonoscopies are not so bad and that they are incredibly important.   So, when I saw that FabFitFun teamed up with Katie Couric to raise awareness and money for her Stand Up To Cancer nonprofits, I knew that I had to share with all of you.

I hope that you will consider FabFitFun subscriptions for those on your holiday shopping list because the Winter 2020 box will support Katie Couric's Stand Up To Cancer nonprofit! Plus, the box sells for just $50 and is generously packed with over $200 worth of premium items.

What was in my box?

FabFitFun curates fabulous items every quarter to coincide with the start of each season.  They then surprise customers with different items from the curated collection. For instance, the photo at the top of the post and the one below are sample boxes that contain Winter 2020 items.  These boxes are slightly different than what I received because they vary the items by customer. The element of surprise is a lot of fun!  They promise that you will receive at least $200 worth of products even though you only pay $50.

My box was fabulous!  It contained:

  • Kate Spade New York Rise & Shine Stud Earrings (Set of 2) ($68)
  • Impressions Vanity Company LED Vanity Mirror ($45)
  • Laura Gellar Cinnamon + Spice Eyeshadow Palette ($45)
  • Voir Haircare Rhythm of the Rain - Hair Masque & Scalp Detox ($28)
  • epare Cutting Board (Set of 4) ($19.95)
  • Whish Lip Scrub in Vanilla Bean ($20)
  • nOir Jewelry Ombre Leopard Scrunchies ($25)
  • Londontown Get Well Nail Recovery ($20)
  • Kind Thins Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt Bar ($1)
The total value of my box was $271.95!  You'll notice that this is well over the $200 value that they promise. I've always lucked out and received well over $200 worth of products in my previous boxes as well. It's an incredible value, plus each box supports a great cause such as Stand Up To Cancer (Winter 2020).

I loved all of the items. The Kate Spade New York Rise & Shine Stud Earrings were my favorite items in the box. They are very pretty and something that I would have picked out on my own. They retail for $68 which is actually a higher value than the cost of the box alone!

Another thing that I love about FabFitFun boxes is that it's a fantastic value when you only pay $50 for a box and it is guaranteed to contain $200 or more worth of products. I feel like this provides a low-risk way to try new brands and products. I've discovered many new items in FabFitFun boxes over the years that I normally wouldn't have splurged on, but after they arrived in my box, I tried the items and fell in love with them!

If I had to choose one brand/item in this box that I may not have purchased prior to this box, but am now hooked, it is the Voir Haircare Rhythm of the Rain Hair Masque & Scalp Detox. This product uses natural butters, oils, and botanicals to restore scalp health while infusing locks with vital nutrients.  The product is exactly something that I would love, but the $28 price tag would have made me hesitate in purchasing it since I wasn't familiar with the brand or product.  However, after I tried it, I realized that this haircare product is fabulous! I definitely plan to purchase it in the future.

The most practical item in the box that I needed was the Impressions Vanity Company LED Vanity Mirror. My preschooler borrowed the vanity mirror from my bathroom and accidentally dropped it on the floor. It shattered and I planned to replace it. So, when this showed up in my box, it was perfect timing. There are features that I really like such as the bright white LED light strip and the sensor button. It's also a nice size and looks sleek on my bathroom counter.

If I had to choose an item that made me light up as soon as I saw the brand, it would be the Londontown Get Well Nail Recovery. I first came across the Londontown brand at Neiman Marcus. Londontown nail care and nail color products are a healthy alternative to traditional nail products. You may have come across this brand that uses natural ingredients at Neiman Marcus, Anthropologie, Ulta, and other stores. A stand out feature is that their nail polishes are infused with botanicals and provide gel-like wear without damaging your nails. Personally, I was lucky to come across this brand after my son was born. When I was pregnant, my nails were healthy and beautiful. However, in the months after my son was born, I noticed that my hair and nails were in bad shape. I guess that this is not completely uncommon.  We all go through different seasons of life and sometimes have to get our bodies back in balance and figure out the products that work best for us. Thank goodness for Londontown nail care products! I really like that the Londontown products are vegan and contain a proprietary blend of vitamins and botanical oils to help restore, hydrate, and strengthen nails from within. They offer fantastic products for moms, especially those who want to hydrate and strengthen their nails.  The Londontown Get Well Nail Recovery was a new product to me. I didn't know about it until I opened my FabFitFun box.  I absolutely love it! It nourishes my nails with a blend of alpha hydroxy acids and vitamins B5 and C.  If you give this brand a try, I think that you'll find out why I am so enthusiastic about Londontown!

If I had to pick the trendiest item from the box, I would say that it is the 3-pack of nOir Jewelry Ombre Leopard Scrunchies. My hair stylist recommended that I start using scrunchies to pull my hair up at home since I have breakage that may be partially caused by the hair ties. These came at the perfect time. I especially love the leopard print!

My favorite winter items from the box are the Laura Gellar Cinnamon + Spice Eyeshadow Palette  and the Whish Lip Scrub in Vanilla Bean. These items tie in my view because the lip scrub is very timely for the dry winter air, but then the eyeshadow palette contains gorgeous colors for winter!

The best non-beauty item is the epare Cutting Board (Set of 4).  This is something that came up among a group of my friends. We were discussing different beauty subscription boxes and two of us had tried FabFitFun. We raved that they include beauty products, as well as, items that are useful around the house.  These cutting boards are a wonderful example!  It's good to periodically replace old cutting boards, so I am sure that many customers will be happy to refresh this item in their kitchen.

The box also contain a delicious food item - the Kind Thins Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt Bar. I buy the thicker version of this snack weekly when I go grocery shopping. It's one of my favorite snacks! I was excited to see the thinner version that is only 90 calories.  It satisfies my cravings for something sweet, but contains healthier ingredients than candy bars.

Finally, every FabFitFun box comes with a booklet about the person that they teamed up with (Katie Couric for Winter 2020), a summary of the items in the different boxes, and fabulous content.

I hope that you enjoyed this glimpse into our sparkling Winter 2020 FabFitFun box.  The box contains fabulous items that are a tremendous deal and each purchase supports Katie Couric's Stand Up To Cancer nonprofit. I love it as a holiday gift since the curators selected such lovely items that others are sure to love too!
