Sign up for Irving Olympic Day! (Spoiler alert - They Have Something for Everyone!)

In today's post, I want to tell you about Olympic Day in Irving. Now that the pandemic is coming to an end, it's time to get out and enjoy the world around us again! Irving's Olympic Day event provides a wide array of activities that will make it fun for your family to bond and exercise at the same time.  Whether you are an avid runner or simply want to have fun with your family this weekend, the Irving Olympic Day event has you covered with a wide variety of activities that will keep you busy, including a Fun Run, 5K, 10K, archery, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and more!  There is truly something for everyone! Plus, if you have little ones who are curious about different sports, this is a great opportunity for them to try new things.  Let me share the details.

Each year on June 23, Olympic Day is commemorated all over the globe, and this year Irving is inviting North Texas to join in the festivities that will mark Irving's first Olympic Day celebration. The myriad of local Olympic Day activities begin on June 25 and conclude on June 26 and have been designed to promote fitness, well-being, culture and educational opportunities, while also observing the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.

June 2021 marks the inaugural Olympic Day Irving-Las Colinas. Olympic Day Irving-Las Colinas weekend events will include sports, cultural and educational activities including an Olympic Day Run (5K and 10K distances), sports tournaments, exhibitions, music and educational seminars. The myriad of Olympic Day activities June 25 - June 26 are open and accessible to the public at large, not just for Irving city residents.

In recognition of Japan, a significant contributor to both the business and social fabric of Irving-Las Colinas and North Texas, there will be a 
there will be a Japanese Taiko Drum performance following the race on Saturday to highlight Japanese art and culture as part of the celebration.

The Irving-Las Colinas Olympic Day Committee is comprised of over a dozen local and regional partners, including: the Irving Marathon, Visit Irving, City of Irving, Las Colinas Association, Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth, Dallas City Utility and Reclamation District, the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, Dallas College North Lake Campus, the Irving Police Department, the Irving Police Athletic League, the Irving Fire Department, the Irving Rotary, Irving Arts Center, Greater Dallas Veteran’s Foundation, and the Toyota Music Factory. Under the leadership of the host and organizer, the U.S.-Mexico Cultural & Educational Foundation, the Committee exemplifies the strengths of public-private partnerships, all leveraging their talents and abilities to bring Olympic Day to North Texas.
