(Score a NewAir Coupon!) Top 10 Tips for Adjusting to the Texas Heat: Save Money on A/C Bills and Stay Comfortable with Easy Tips Such as Using a NewAir Air Circulator Fan (NFN12AWH00)!

Moving to Texas means dealing with the scorching heat. Managing your air conditioning (A/C) bills is crucial to keeping your budget intact. In today's post, I'll share 10 tips for adjusting to the Texas heat and ways to save money on A/C bills. I will also tell you about how I recently upgraded to a NewAir Air Circulator Fan (NFN12AWH00) to better circulate air to make our home more comfortable. (At the end of the post, we have an exclusive NewAir coupon for our readers!)

1. Set your thermostat wisely: Set your thermostat to the highest temperature that is still comfortable for you. Every degree you lower your thermostat can increase your A/C bill by up to 3%. Aim to keep your thermostat around 78°F during the day and raise it a few degrees at night when you're sleeping or when you're away from home.

2. Plant trees or install shading devices: Planting trees or installing shading devices like awnings or pergolas can help block the sun's heat from entering your home, reducing the need for excessive A/C usage. Just make sure to choose trees or shading devices that won't obstruct the airflow around your A/C unit.

3. Use ceiling fans: Ceiling fans can help circulate the air in your home and create a cooling effect, allowing you to raise the thermostat temperature while still feeling comfortable. Remember to turn off fans when you leave the room to save on electricity.

4. Invest in a good quality floor fan: A good quality floor fan can be a valuable addition to your home to circulate air and provide extra cooling. Place it strategically in rooms where you spend the most time, and use it in combination with your A/C to help cool down the space more efficiently. At the end of this post, I'll tell you about the NewAir Air Circulator Fan (NFN12AWH00) that we use as a floor fan (it's also wall mountable!) and will share an exclusive coupon for our readers!

5. Seal air leaks: Inspect your home for air leaks around doors, windows, and other openings. Seal any gaps or cracks with weatherstripping or caulk to prevent hot air from entering your home and causing your A/C to work harder.

6. Keep windows covered: Use window coverings like curtains, blinds, or shades to block out the sun's heat during the hottest parts of the day. You can also consider using reflective window films or shades to reduce the amount of heat that enters your home.

7. Maintain your A/C system: Regular maintenance of your A/C system can ensure it operates efficiently, saving you money on energy bills. Clean or replace air filters regularly, keep outdoor A/C units clean and free of debris, and schedule annual professional maintenance to keep your A/C system running at its best.

8. Use a programmable thermostat: Invest in a programmable thermostat that allows you to schedule temperature adjustments throughout the day. This way, you can program your A/C to turn up when you're away from home and lower the temperature before you return, saving energy and money.

9. Limit heat-generating activities: Appliances like ovens, stoves, and dryers generate heat, which can make your A/C work harder. Limit these activities during the hottest parts of the day or consider using them during cooler hours to reduce the heat load on your A/C system. Many Texans will even tell you that they cook in their slow cookers on their patios and grill many of their meals in summer.

10. Opt for energy-efficient appliances: When it's time to replace appliances, opt for energy-efficient models that use less energy and generate less heat. Look for appliances with the Energy Star label, as they are designed to be more energy-efficient and can help you save on your energy bills.

Now that I've shared these tips, let me tell you about a change that we made this year and has made a difference! After living in Texas for more than 10 years, we wish that we would have known to use a good circulator air fan sooner! Specifically, we started using the NewAir Air Circulator Fan (NFN12AWH00). This has been a game changer, especially in the afternoons when the sun is at full force and seems to unevenly heat up our house.  We've found that using the fan to better circulate air makes a big difference. We put the fan near our patio door (inside of our house), angle it at approximately a 30-degree angle, and let it work its magic to circulate the air.

This fan is 12" and offers 3 speeds. We tend to use the highest speed and appreciate that it's powerful while also relatively quiet.

The fan is adjustable which makes it easy to pivot at different angles. Similar to other NewAir products, we've found that this fan is user-friendly and easy to use. We typically use a 30-degree angle. The combination of the non-stick feet and option to tighten the fan into position using the adjusters on the side are great.

Finally, I have to point out that NewAir is a customer-centric company that offers a warranty and makes it easy to reach out for help.  I think that we've all had experiences where we needed to contact customer service for a product and it was daunting to find a way to contact the brand. Some brands only offers support through email that may take multiple business days for a response. Some even claim that there are longer wait times than usual due to COVID-19. (Yeah, the pandemic is over, but some brands are holding onto that excuse!) NewAir is refreshing and that's not just because their fan freshens our air, but because they prominently include a card in the box of this fan with their contact information if you need help. They include the phone number so that you may talk to a real person if you need help. You probably won't need to contact them, but it's nice to know that this brand wants to be easily accessible to customers.  They truly care about your experience with their products!

By implementing these tips, including using a good quality floor fan to circulate air, you can save money on your A/C bills while still staying comfortable in the Texas heat. Remember to be mindful of your energy usage and make energy-efficient choices to keep your energy bills in check during the hot summer months. Stay cool and budget-friendly!
